The manuscript is a result of experiences while growing up in the breathtaking and untamed lands of Southern Africa. A land of ancient kings and ancient mysteries. A unique country blessed with an abundance of metals like gold, silver, chrome, iron ore and copper, and also rich in gemstones - emeralds, diamonds, different semi-precious stones of jade, malachite, amethyst and many others. Introvert

"Introvert – 'a thorned reality' has been set using the idea of a night at the theatre. The programme follows the first act, the interval and the second act design. The First Act starts with a prologue, spurring the ‘actor’ on as an artist’s muse. The poems play out like the action on a stage, a love story unfolds, and a song for freedom is heard. An interval from intensity - we see monologues in the foyer ‘Playing Up’, these exist as a distraction of nonsense and frivolity. The second act recommences with a salute of energy. This is the dramatic fragment climaxes with the story ‘You should have used the bolt’. The end brings a new beginning where the final curtain call is sung. As we leave ‘the theatre’, the epilogue echoes in our mind…a prayer to survive ‘Lead me through the Baobab’. It is fitting for me to use this medium to tell my story.”

Escape

Falko '...to sleep... perchance to dream...' Shakespeare. The luxury of time in reflective thought and dreams is echoed in my works. I would like to evoke a contemplative reaction from my audience. Coming from Zimbabwe I am culturally attracted to and mesmerised by the safari experience. Although the harsh wilds of Africa are beautiful as they are, I work to bring an element of fantasy and the surreal to related subjects. In drama classes (body linguistics) I learnt the art of enhancement, 'exaggerating' a chosen feature within a performance. I have adapted this technique and depict it within visual art. This cultivated the concept Escape. 'Poetic Illustration' - Working with oils on glass gives me an incredible freedom to manipulate colour, in texture and in depth of colour (as the oils glide smoothly over the glass surface). I feel an element of risk and excitement whilst engaged in this poetic illustration (poetry written on fabric or paper illustrated with oil on glass overlay).
