Most memoirs of a 'secret life' are fantasy fiction, but not this one! Under another name, Arthur Masters is an accomplished author, illustrator and musician, but in this book his lives have changed places and it is his 'straight life' that has become the shadowy background to his parallel life as a 'Dom', the male version of the more familiar Dominatrix. From his first adventures with his childhood nanny in England, we are taken on a frank and colourful journey through the streets of London's Soho, the Red Light District of Amsterdam, the BDSM haunts of Sydney, the professional UK spanking scene, and the websites and chat rooms of the darker corners of the internet. We discover that BDSM is alive and kicking even in New Zealand, and are treated to a unique insight into the life of a professional Dom. Arthur Masters also appears as the ubiquitous 'Mr M' of Club Corporal in the fictional writings of Annabel Rose. How closely the real Arthur resembles the fictional character is another secret!

Hi there! My name is Sally, or 'Schoolgirl Sally' as I am often called around here! Of course, I’m not really a schoolgirl any more. Nor am I a maid, or a nurse, or any of the other things I'm asked to dress up as. That's just what we do here at Club Corporal. It’s an enjoyable job, acting out people's fantasies for them. It's especially fun for me, because all the sessions involve what Mr M (the Boss) refers to as ‘erotic discipline of a traditionally English nature.’ So if this is the sort of thing you like too, well, you've found the right place – and the right book! I don't know why Annabel chose me as the main character. She could have chosen any of us, though most of the others are in the story too. It's definitely a mixture of fantasy and reality, which is, I suppose, what we all do every day anyway. Most of it is sort of true, and the bits that aren't – well, let's say we wish they were!

In this, the third book in Annabel Rose's Club Corporal trilogy, we have moved several years forward in time. One of the girls has been rushed to hospital after a road accident and, in the space of one remarkable week, Mr M is confronted with a series of events that cause him to think again about some of the people and relationships that he has been taking for granted. New encounters rekindle old passions, and some of his earlier experiences in the edgier world of BDSM return to present him with new alternatives. The 'last orders' of the title may not be simply the instructions that Mr M issues to his girls as he considers retirement. Behind the usual lascivious action of the story, we gain the distinct impression that the author is calling time on the Club Corporal saga itself. In the final pages, as the Annabel Rose character finally says goodbye to her 'hero' Mr M, we realise that Annabel Rose the author may be closing a significant chapter in her own life as well.
