Children with autism think in pictures, so its no wonder that they respond well to a pictured-based language. Each of our stories are written in two formats: reguar text, for readers to be able to read to a child or student AND symbols (PCS - Picture Exchange Communication Symbols)for the visual learners. Over time these visual thinkers are able to pick up on language faster and retain more than we ever knew was possible.
PCS is a picture-based language which is used to communicate with persons who have autism and other similar disorders. This new language is not unlike braille to the blind or sign language for the deaf and hard of hearing. This PCS system enables us to depart important information, provide educational materials and reciprocal communication.
We now offer these stories in both hardcover and in downloadable .pdf download format. Our hardcover books books are printed in full-color interior ink, interior paper (80# weight), 8.25" x 10.75", glossy hardcover binding, full-color exterior ink. They are a wonderful addition to any home or school library. You may also download your copy using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If your child is ready to begin communicating about their school day independently, this book can help your child take daily notes about their school day.
