The 737 Technical Site is now available as a book. This book takes you right from the original concept that lead Boeing to design the 737 through its 40 year evolution, in language that is easily understood. It looks at each system in turn, supported by over 500 high resolution photographs, diagrams and schematics, placing each system component in context. It collates information from many different sources and combines over 15 years of the authors own flying experiences to lead the reader through the 737 from radome to tail-cone. This book takes you beyond the flight deck on a grand tour of the worlds' most prolific airliner in a way that is as relevant to the type rating candidate as it is to a company Fleet Technical Captain. To complete the picture, the book also contains Pilots notes, a detailed guide to airtesting and the accident history of the type, which serve to make this book the most practical and comprehensive technical guide to the 737 available today. The standard version is a softback, 8.5" x 11" book containing 362 pages in a choice of either full colour or black & white pages. By popular demand a smaller, lighter, 6" x 9" pocket version has been produced to fit easily into your flight case. Both the standard and pocket versions are coil-bound for ease of use. There is also a full colour hardback version for those who really appreciate their aircraft. All versions have identical content, far surpassing that found on the website, although the number of pages vary due to formatting differences. So, after eight years work, the website and all the supporting information that went into its' creation, is now available in print. If you have found the website useful but would like the bigger picture, follow the links below to buy the book. Check out these reviews and readers comments here.
About the Author
Over the last eight years, Chris Brady has written and produced, “The Boeing 737 Technical Website” at www.b737.org.uk It began in 1999 after a small set of pilots’ technical notes he had written for his own use began to be circulated amongst his colleagues. Responding to increasing demand, he set up a small website to distribute them, which quickly became known through word of mouth and emails within the pilot community. In the following years Chris has devoted many hours to building up an extensive and entirely free pilots’ information service in the interest of improving the depth of knowledge and understanding of the aircraft amongst 737 pilots worldwide. Throughout this time, pilots, trainers, and engineers from many countries have not only emailed their appreciation of the site, but have also often submitted notes and articles which, once checked, have been added to it. It is now the most authoritative open source of information freely available about the 737, and is a valuable contribution to air safety. The website now attracts over 12,000 visitors per week. Chris began his career in general aviation, becoming a trainer to commercial level, examiner, C of A test pilot and Chief Pilot. During seven years at British Midland, he became a Training Captain and groundschool instructor, rewriting technical and performance training manuals. He is currently working as easyJet’s maintenance test pilot and has conducted more than 100 airworthiness test flights on the Boeing 737. He has now produced this book as an invaluable guide for all who study, work and train on this hugely successful airliner. |
