The best way to understand Bat Lenny is to listen to our music, but in descriptive terms, our styles range from cartoony madness to sublime epics. We take wide turns around cliches and typical rock formulas. We even avoid atypical rock formulas. We rarely consciously try to sound like someone else, but when we do we still end up sounding like us. We are irked when we are lured to other independent artists because they "sound like so and so". Hey - we like "so and so" so they should be good, right? And yeah, they sound like "so and so". So? If I want to listen to "so and so" I'll listen to "so and so". But if we must, we'll say we have been influenced by Brian Eno, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Pere Ubu, Porcupine Tree, XTC, The Flaming lips and Dr. Seuss... but not necessarily in that order.
