The Revelation of Jesus Christ According to the Sinaitic Text

The Revelation of Jesus Christ According to the Sinaitic TextThe Revelation of Jesus Christ According to the Sinaitic Text (book)

Print: $29.96

In 1918, the Society introduced in the June 1st Watchtower, a pocket commentary on the Book of Revelation, based largely on the 4th century Codex Sinaiticus. Its complete title reads, The Revelation of Jesus Christ, with the subtitle, According to the Sinaitic Text. In a note on page 3 it states, "The familiar wording of the King James Version of our English Bible has been adhered to as closely, as possible, being altered only when necessary, to make the reading correspond to the Sinaitic Manuscript of the Greek text. This text is the oldest and most perfect known, though it had not been discovered at the time the 'Authorized' translation was made." Many who are familiar with the Society's publications may not have been aware that this publication even existed, and for good reason. Very few were printed.

In 1881 "Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society" was founded with the purpose of disseminating tracts, papers, doctrinal treatises and Bibles, and was officially chartered in 1884. From this point onward, Russell's ministry grew by leaps and bounds. His Bible study group had grown to over 200 local members who annually elected him "Pastor". Other congregations followed this habit as they were founded in the coming years throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, and other nations in recognition of their view that God was using this man to reveal "the truth". He devoted nearly a tenth of his fortune in publishing and distributing his first major publication, entitled "Food for Thinking Christians" in 1881. This is a reprint of that publication.

It is a little known fact that in 1935 Jehovah's Witnesses attempted to adopt a new calendar. They wanted a calendar that was free from any connection to other religions or and one without names that originated with pagan gods. The March 1, 1935 Watchtower referred to this article in the Golden Age and said: "Now, since the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and his enthronement and his gathering together of his faithful followers, the time seems at hand to more clearly understand God's purposes as expressed in his Word, and this includes the manner of measuring time. It seems proper and fitting that we should try to ascertain the correct way of measuring time and give publication thereto."

SEOLA

SEOLASEOLA (book)

Print: $29.90

Seola is an antediluvian novel published in 1878, written by Anne Eliza Smith. The majority of the novel purports to be a translation of an ancient scroll diary, written by the wife of Japheth. Japheth is one the three sons of Noah who survived the great deluge as depicted in the bible book of Genesis. Anne Smith describes how she was inspired to write the novel in the appendix of Seola. She writes: "Seola is a fantasy, revealed to the writer while listening to the performance of an extraordinary musical composition. It was sudden and unforeseen as the landscape which sometimes appears to a benighted traveller, for one instant only, illumined by the lightning's flash. It does not therefore pretend to be either history or theology, but yet the theory upon which the story is founded is in strict accordance with the sacred writings of the Hebrews and traditions of other ancient nations."

MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE

MILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIEMILLIONS NOW LIVING WILL NEVER DIE (book)

Print: $12.96

A public talk titled "The World Has Ended; Millions Now Living May Never Die" was first delivered on February 24, 1918 in Los Angeles, California. Just five weeks later, on March 31, 1918 the title was changed to indicate absolute certainty and the word "May" was substituted by the word "Will". So the new title became "The World Has Ended; Millions Now Living Will Never Die." The public talk continued to be delivered under that same title until 1925. The material in that talk was published in 1920. For decades Jehovah's Witnesses belived that they would never die in this system and that they would simply pass on into a righteous new earth. Now, of course, that belief has been dropped and it is considered "old light." This is a reprint of the original book. The pages in this book are a photographic duplication of the pages in the original book.
