Diese Ausgabe setzt mit zwei Texten zum internationalen Strafgerichtshof einen inhaltlichen Schwerpunkt. Die Beiträge von Katharina Last und Daniel Stanka beschäftigen sich mit dem IstGH aus institutionalistischer Perspektive. Der Beitrag von Sascha Reeb fragt nach den Gründen für die Output-Legitimation der Politik der Europäischen Union. Mathis Balz argumentiert, dass auch neue Kriege politisch motiviert sind und nicht allein aus ökonomischen Gründen geführt werden. Wir haben zusätzlich das Diskussionsforum „Streit-Bar“ eingerichtet, in dem aktuelle politische Fragestellungen erörtert werden. Illya Kozyrev, der sich mit der Demokratie in Russland auseinandersetzt, macht in dieser Ausgabe den Anfang.

It is open to actors and structures of regulation and does ask for effective new ways of coordination and cooperation comprising different levels of politics (the national, sub-national and the supra-national). Within this work I do first outline the available concepts of governance in order to then present the development of governance regarding global infrastructures.

European media are understood as fulfilling the role function of creating identification and participation within democracies. They do this by informing the public. Information creates a public sphere and with this identification with Europe, which is the basis for participation. This process that is taking place when information of the public turns into participation and identification is explained by drawing on democracy theory and constructivism. Constructivism explains what happens, when information changes attitudes and self-perceptions. These change, as identification with Europe develops. The results of the empirical part – testing identification with Europe due to information - were explained by drawing on communication effects studies.
