Welcome to our publishing enterprise. Dog Days Press is reaching out to the writing community. We emphasize a project driven approach to publishing and the writing craft. About the books: The hoi polloi series of books are dedicated to charitable endeavors. The first issue of hoi polloi benefits the Sowing Seeds organization of Marshfield, Massachusetts. hoi polloi II benefits the National MS Society. hoi polloi III is dedication to the North Shore medical Center through the annual Cancer Walk event.************************************************************************************************************ hoi polloi II features the artistic expressions of the following individuals: Mary Agria, Brother Michael Anthony, Joanne Blundell Marsh, Paula J. Botch, Jacqueline M. Cartel, Raymond Carver (Biographical essay by Professor William Stull), Ben Cheetham, Sally A. Connolly, Jeff Cutler, Andre Dubus (Biographical essay by Christina Bieber), Bill Dunn, Christopher Facci, Grace Gannon Rudolph, Gene K. Garrison, Clyde Grauke, Rob Hardy, Carrie J. Heiman, William J. Houston, Alex Hutchinson, Ferris E. Jones, Dorian Kotsiopoulos, Jhumpa Lahiri (Biographical essay), Janice Lind, Frank Marino, Mark McNulty, Bathsheba Monk, Lorna J. Moorhead, Michael Morse, Rachel Nameika, Michael Niland, Jack O’Brien, Flannery O’Connor (Biographical essay by Ronald Weber), Joy Oakey, Andrew Peterson, Peter S. Prichard, Nel Rand, Andra Smith, Kerrie Smith, Ed Smith Jr., William Trevor (Biographical essay by Dr. Eve Patten), Matt Ulmer, Ron Wilson, Tobias Wolff (Biography and review by Benjamin Lytal), Alexander Woodbury and Virginia Young. In addition, we feature a Small Press profile of Press 53 and a literary magazine profile of Rain Taxi review of books. As in our other hoi polloi offerings, this book encourages the ‘writer in all of us’ to become engaged in literary pursuits. All proceeds benefit The National MS Society. ************************************************************************************** Our previous publication of hoi polloi: Three versions of hoi polloi are offered. All three versions of the book include the same content. • The larger format (8 1/2” x 11”) of the book is offered at the best value because the printing expense is reduced with fewer pages to print. • The 6” x 9” perfect bound paperback is more compact and required more print pages. In addition, this version has been generated for greater distribution services with the purchase of an ISBN. This perfect bound format is also more desirable for retail sales and stocking on shelves. With the added distribution services, the retail price is increased. If this book is purchased through online retailers other than LULU.COM, the royalties are minimal. If this format of the book is purchased through this site (at the same price), the royalties are greater. The additional distribution expenses are bypassed. As a reminder, all royalties are sent directly to the Sowing Seeds charity in this endeavor. Thus, purchasing through LULU.COM is a more beneficial option with regard to supporting the charity. • As an additional option, we offer a coil-bound version of the more compact 6” x 9” paperback version that does not include the greater expense of distribution services. This version maintains a more affordable price and the royalties are not negatively impacted for the Sowing Seeds charity. All proceeds from the sale of hoi polloi will benefit Sowing Seeds of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Visit: http://www.dogdayspress.com/
