"Ending the Epidemic of Child Abuse" is a detailed step-by-step guide to the theraputic process. If you are in therapy, this book is a must read. It also gives a detailed proceedure on how to not just survive child abuse, but to effectively cope with all the problems associated with it and become a master in recovery. I was traumatized mentally, emotionally, physically and sexually, and was left with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that gave me flashbacks in all four areas. I learned how to not only survive it, but overcome it, and I’ve lived to tell about it. It was imperative for me to write this book. When we are abused as children, or just not adequately informed, we are not taught to the knowledge that is needed to deal with life, our own needs and desires. Neither are we taught to deal with other people along with their needs and desires, nor other circumstances in life. On top of lacking that knowledge, survivors have more problems to deal with than those who were raised in a healthy home. So, in effect, we are not given the proper basic information upon which to base any future decisions. This book will teach you how to approach new challenges life deals you. All of us live our lives based on the beliefs, concepts, knowledge and perceptions we grew up with. In this book, I will teach you how to change your initial beliefs and concepts, as well as expand your knowledge and perception. I put control of your recovery in your hands. I was in therapy twenty years and that amounts to about fifteen-hundred hours. The thing that was most frustrating, and the reason it took me so long to recover, was because no one had a clear view of the big picture, or a clear view of what all it would take for people to recover. Therapy was not and is still not used in a structured, organized way. In effect, I mapped out the recovery process for you. I did my best to lay the foundation upon which to base your recovery, organized the lay-out of recovery, structured the process and prioritized the steps to recovery in a user-friendly manner. You get a view of the whole picture - of what all is involved in recovery. You pick you own pace, you choose the goals you want to set and you can work at what part of your recovery you choose to work on in which ever order you want to prioritize it knowing what part of the process you are in at any given time. If you ever asked “Why?” I have done my best to answer that question as well. This book is an absolute necessity for anyone recovering from child abuse, with or without PTSD involved, for it is an over-all guide to the self-help process for anyone wishing to become completely psychologically healthy in every respect, either abused as a child or just misinformed. It is also a great book for those who wish to support others who were abused as children as it gives insight into what has happened us on the inside, and what needs to happen so that we can recover, and what supporters can do to help us recover. Especially if the person coming out of an abusive home is still a child and cannot yet read or understand this book. I have heard it said that no-one can fully recover from a victim-mentality. I spent the last four years writing this book, covering every angle I could, making sure I didn’t leave anything out. I went from having a victim-mentality to building a healthy mind, living on purpose, my purpose is to help others who are still in the shoes I was in. To show you how to overcome a victim-mentality, not just how to cope with it. You can learn how to stop flashbacks and to achieve personal freedom which will ultimately bring success, happiness and best of all self-esteem. This book will also help supporters of survivors to guide us in our long, difficult journey to a fully recovered state.
