The Buckingham English concept began in 2002 with the objective of creating high-end, tailored materials for the ELT and management training industries.
Originally from the south of England, Chris has been involved in ELT as a teacher/writer for over 8 years and has lived in many European capitals including Paris.
Chris recalls this city, with its unique charm, was where his creativity was really inspired. “I was fortunate in Paris, because I was surrounded by some really talented and creative people. I often found encouragement among my many friends.”
Thankfully that encouragement gave Chris the incentive to continue looking for ways to improve and better resources on the market. Innovation and the search to better the materials available through Buckingham English are what drives the project today.
Chris comments: “The future is positive for Buckingham English. We really don’t want to make a fortune at the expense of doing good or adding better materials to the world of training. Our objective today is to continue to innovate where we can and search for a more positive way to do what we love to do.” This is also one reason Buckingham English has chosen to work with Lulu for its print editions. Lulu print on demand resulting in less materials being needlessly stored until sold or wasted.
But the search goes on for a deeper, greener way to produce print editions. Buckingham English encourages customers to download their products on environmental and cost grounds. It also donates around 2% of income from books/downloads to kiva (a micro-lending site for entrepreneurs in areas where access to finance maybe limited or non-existent).
