Print: $19.73 Discusses the history of the Strachans of Thornton, and other Strachan families. There are known to be several inaccurate accounts contained in the first edition of this book in 1873. Although this is the second edition (which claims to be free of certain errors that crept into the first edition), no study
has been made to ensure the accuracy of this publication as of this date.
This second edition does not appear to so aggressively pursue a special pleading by the Wise
family to gain the baronetcy of Sir R.J. Strachan, but still lays claim (page 95) that, “A representative of the ancient
barons of Thornton in the female line is the head of the old Scottish family of Wise.” Contains 135 scanned pages from the original book (1877).
