  • Creating your own Basic interpreter

    2007 May 09

I recently read through Malcolm McLean's MiniBasic - how to write a script interpreter. I chose it because of the cover, which is my favorite technical book cover this year.

This book has no idea what it wants to be, and is schizophrenic in organization, but is worth your time and money anyway. Malcolm describes the basic process through which he made his MiniBasic interpreter, and includes the entire code for the interpreter. If you're willing to put the effort into digging through the code, it's a very interesting read for someone who has never written a language interpreter before.
