The Ex-Boyfriend Syndrome
Julie Anderson is sick of running into ex-boyfriends. Dating by the motto: “Any guy who has the
good taste to ask me out deserves a chance,” and still
living in the town where she was born, she
seems to encounter a former flame at every turn. But
the philosophy that was supposed to help her find Mr.
Right seemed to have gotten her only a bunch of Mr.
Wrongs.
There’s Paul, her high school sweetheart who invites
her to his gay wedding. Troy, a shallow, self-
absorbed architect who takes Julie out only to sleep
with her roommate. Mike, the volunteer
fireman/Boy Scout whose heart she breaks. And
Thomas, the one who broke her heart.
Suffering from the realization that life after
college is nothing like she’d planned, she watches her
roommates lose men and her sisters find love and
begins to despair of ever finding the right man for
herself. Then one of her exes introduces her to Sam, and Julie learns that love comes not from
philosophy or strategy, but from kindness and a little
luck.
