Hello Visitor,
I’m David Hoffman, owner and operator of Gloomwing Magazine, and I’m a writing enthusiast that has been exploring the written word since childhood. To date, I’ve written two full length novels, a collection of short stories and poetry, and published a new magazine called Gloomwing. The first issue, summer 2006, is currently available as a printed book and as an e-book.
In my writing, I love to explore fanciful worlds that are richly filled with lore, history, and deep emotional characters. One of my favorite topics, doomsday scenarios, is explored in The Summerstone Legacy. And on the fantasy side of things, Rune Quest follows a prophecy that sends Jera, a young sixteen-year-old girl, on a quest to save a world that’s on the brink of total defeat.
I’m also an avid explorer of electronics and have written a book, Bit Banging I2C For PIC Processors. For more information on this book, I encourage you to read the description below and visit my website at www.dwhoffman.com.
Gloomwing Magazine is intended for self-publishers and fans of self-published works. Gloomwing provides a wealth of information. Articles on self-publishing, grammar, and writing techniques can be found inside. Readers will also find short stories, art, book reviews, and more in each issue.
I want to thank you for visiting this page and welcome any comments you might have. Feel free to contact me through Lulu or either www.dwhoffman.com or www.gloomwing.com.

Print: $19.66 Tomorrow is a big day for Jera. She turns sixteen and will receive, in a magical and mystical ritual, the power to command one of the four elements. But what Jera, nor anyone else, knows is that this midsummer's day will unleash more than the promise of an elemental power. For a centuries old prophecy will be fulfilled and a new era of pain and suffering will be unleashed upon the world. A quest is placed upon Jera; a task to find and recover the original set of runes crafted by Odin himself. But as this journey begins so does an unknown ancient enemy erupt into the lands of ancient Earth, an enemy intent on destroying everything and everyone in the magical realms of the Northern Kingdoms. And as she journeys through a dying world the prophecy remains clouded and new mysteries are revealed. Jera must find her way through a conflict that goes far beyond the mortal realm.

Print: $8.42 Bit Banging I2C for PIC Processors is an invaluable tool for anyone using PIC processors without built in I2C serial support. Bit Banging not only covers the basics of I2C serial communication but also provides working assembly code ready to be implemented into your project.
Using MPLAB IDE (or another development environment) you’ll be able to integrate the included code easily. The code presented here also takes into account the memory addressing limitation of the 16C5x and 16F5x family of processors. The code is designed to keep low memory free for your own applications.
Bit Banging I2C for PIC Processors also takes into consideration timing requirements for I2C communication and explains how to modify the code to accommodate higher PIC clock frequencies.
Bit Banging is a valuable resource for anyone working with the PIC processor and can aid I2C communication design beyond the C5x and F5x family.

Print: $6.95 Download: $0.99 Gloomwing Magazine - Honest reviews, articles, and great short stories!
Gloomwing Magazine, issue #1 (Summer 2006), is geared towards the self-publishing community. Gloomwing contains articles on self-publishing, grammar, short fiction, artwork, and much more! In this issue: A beginner's guide to self-publishing - part one, grammar gone wrong: apostrophes, western folklore, short stories by: B.R. Jones, Steven M. Ulmen, Daniel H. Debelius, Jr., and David Wayne Hoffman. And over a dozen book reviews.
Due to the persistent posting of a certain disgruntled author and on the advice of a Lulu representative, I’ve disabled reviews for this product. I prefer for people to be able to express their opinions, but the reviews had become an avenue for personal attacks, abusive language, and threats.
As compensation for this, I’ve changed the preview to include the entire first issue of Gloomwing magazine. I’d also like to thank you for taking the time to visit our first issue.
