Tinhorn discovered Lulu shortly after the site’s launch. In the ensuing five years he started assisting newbies with their projects in the forums, was appointed one of Lulu’s first Power Posters, one of the first Lulu Masters, one of the first Live Help helpers, and was invited to become one of Lulu’s first Service Providers in 2005. Running a successful Service Provider business is important, but Tinhorn’s focus has always been assisting self-published authors navigate the Lulu system. Tinhorn and the great folks at Dixie Press work daily with the site processes and the myriad specifications and combinations that are a far cry from 2003, when you had a choice of only two book sizes. We recognize that a lot of time, and a lot of yourself went into your manuscript. We want to help you move that important project from your double-spaced, letter-size, unedited Word doc into a book you’ll be proud to see on your shelf or in a bookstore. This is why we don’t outsource your important files to third-world boiler rooms. It's why we can work in Word, Works, OpenOffice, Lotus, and WordPerfect. It's why we may bug you with questions before we begin work on your cover art. In two and a half years, Tinhorn’s Dixie Press has made over 5000 individual sales of formatting, cover art, editing, and other services to authors. But Tinhorn is prouder of the 5000-plus book templates and cover templates that have been downloaded by authors. 10,000 sales and downloads. That represents a lot of successful Lulu authors. Join them. FINE PRINT: If you're on a tight schedule, please email or call before ordering. Uploads are normally done as soon as we receive the CD. The clock starts ticking when we receive all your files and instructions. Earlier orders are started sooner than later orders, of course, but no work can begin until we have all your finished files and complete instructions. Final approval of your project is your responsibility before you release the book to the public. Ordering a proof prior to ordering in quantity or approving for distribution is also your responsibility. We'll gladly accept responsibility for one proof if an error is our fault. NEW - PHONE CONSULTATION SERVICE One-on-one consultation with a seasoned Dixie Press formatter or cover artist! We can help with basic project setup, cover art and Lulu specifications (including ISBN requirements), problems you may run into with your Word files or Adobe PDF, or simply navigating the Lulu process and uploading your files. You won't be working with some newbie reading answers out of a manual - these are folks who have individually worked with the Lulu site and/or customer files longer than most service providers!
