  I thought I might apply for a grant from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. The application required 15 pages of poetry. I wondered if I might have that much. Actaully, whether I had that much worth submitting. Turns out I did, after considering that each poem should be placed on a separate page and that one poem took up three pages. However, I couldn't come up with a good enough reason for the VMFA to give me $5000. A review of past awards showed that the recipients all had MAs in some writing related field. While it would be a good exercise to apply anyway, I decided not to waste my time or the VMFA's.
  
  Instead I pulled all the poems together into a chapbook and published it here. I have read some of the poems at local open mike poetry events. Some are available in my podcast. This is the first time I've pulled some together for publication. I love it! I have my copy here and it looks so good! And, of course, the poems are fabulous.
  
  I mentioned Charles Bukowski in the blurb for the book, but my work is not as sarcastic or funny as his. I'm not a funny person really, unless you count really dry humor. My style is open and spare, sort of like Charles's. You can see that when you read the poems available when previewing the book.
  
  Progress on the Novel
  I'm still editing it. A friend read through it and thought it was a "real page turner." She asked a few times if I had finished editing and others have asked when it will be ready. I really thought it would be all edited by now. I got involved in Script Frenzy and now I'm writing screenplays. I do plan to get back to the novel and I'll be participating in National Novel Writing Month again, so I'll have yet more writing to manage. I'd give up writing but I'm addicted. It's so much fun!
  

• NaNoWriMo Edition of Novel

  I've uploaded and ordered my free copy of "Cosmic Control: Bronwen's First Age." I did only rough editing. I have someone picked out to read the rough draft and left me know if it's worth bringing up to publishing house standards. I'll be editing it anyway, even if I get a thumbs down. I've started so I'll finish!
  
  I'll let you know about all the steps in between. I'm sure you're dying to know!
