PRESENT DAY RECONSTRUCTION EFFORTS IN LIBERIA SPURS HISTORICAL FICTION: Local Writer Pens Novel about Liberia's Heritage, Current Affairs and Future Possibilities. Minneapolis, MN---Author Emmanuel C. Ezike II presents a novel which depicts Liberia's history, and it's affiliation to America artistically through diverse perspectives ranging from politics and faith, to education and occupation. Dated sometime in the present, the writer hints at a recent civil war, Liberia's current economic state and offers rhetorical prognosis about his country reclaiming its place as Africa's First Independent Republic. Ezike, who works for a major investment firm in Minneapolis says the idea of Coming From Liberia first came about when he saw news of war torn Liberia being flashed on TV screens and Newspapers in America "I felt a deep pain in my heart when I saw kids and young men and women my age shooting assault riffles at their own brothers and sisters that I started to write intensely in response to the articles and images. And after twenty minutes or so I had written about ten pages. I knew I had to complete this book even if it only helped a few young people who are indeed the key to my country's future." Ezike says Liberia's future is so golden and his people so resilient that he is encapsulated in playing his part in the reconstruction efforts by being a builder of thoughts and words; a writer so to speak. He is finishing up Part II of Coming From Liberia (The Arrival). He has also written an award winning screenplay entitled When All Is Said And Done which won Best Breakthru Screenplay in The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. He has a series of works in progress; Part III of Coming From Liberia (The Decision) and two fiction novels. He beckons all Liberians, all people to find and do what they can in order to contribute to the enlightenment and perpetuation of the human race.

COMING FROM LIBERIA portrays a story of Sirleaf; a high school graduate who attains a scholarship to a college in America. During the four hour wait before his departure, a conversation ensues among his father Siafa, Uncle Sekou, Aunt Zoya and Varney; their US-born son. A book written to enlighten, entertain and inspire, one reads with critical eyes as we examine our thoughts and relationships. The Author forces us to view ourselves as humans rather than limit our potential by skin tones, location, family legends, or mental and physical handicaps. Taste with a grain of salt and participate in the dialogue as Ezike takes us from Liberia to America; addressing issues fairly known but rarely discussed. Read kindred advice as each character offers Sirleaf what to expect in America and what's expected of him as a Liberian. COMING FROM LIBERIA expresses views and opinions so simplistically complex that the book resonates with every reader.

In a modern twist of the story of the Prodigal Son, this allegory shares life lessons, wisdom, advice, and gentle admonishments delivered with the dignity of a father’s handshake and the gentle grace of a kiss from your favorite Aunt. Within the pages of this book you will find a brief history of Liberia starting from the early antebellum days. It is a delicious taste of modern African culture in the aftermath of tragic civil strife that portrays the resilience and forgiveness of the people of Liberia. This book should be required reading for young people starting their journey and for those looking to expand their view of the world. Kieran G. Eden Prairie, MN.
