He will feed His flock like a shepherd;
He will gather the lambs with His arm,
And carry them in His bosom,
And gently lead those who are with young.
Isaiah 40:11
Gentle Shepherd is a project of the Hurst family. Our own homeschooling experiences have inspired these products. We began homeschooling in the 1980’s, and have always dabbled in a variety of curriculum materials.
“We” are Michael and Diane Hurst. Michael is an educational technology teacher who teaches public school and university. Diane is a stay-at-home mom who really enjoys home teaching. We have nine children, and they all have been or are currently being homeschooled.
Over the years, Diane has created many work pages, and now we are beginning to make them into books that other educators can use.

eBook: $8.00 Type Write Touch Typing is a beginning typing program, designed to be used by children in upper elementary or middle school. The home row (middle row of keys) is introduced first. Then other letters are introduced one at a time, while continually practicing the letters already learned. There are three components used in Type Write for learning new letters: practicing letter combinations, practicing words, and practicing sentences. The sentences are generally in the form of a short story. For example, the sentences for letter "u" tell about a car: "The car's trunk clunks shut. The car's key turns. The car's engine runs. The car puffs fumes and charges ahead in the blinding dust." The use of meaningless nonsense syllables is kept to a bare minimum, which makes beginning typing more interesting for students.
It takes 90 days to complete this program. Instructions and an assignment syllabus are included in this e-book.
