Book Dedication
With all the talk about girlfriends, I haven’t forgotten who gets me through my day. I have two amazing men in my life.
First my husband, who encourages me to continue everyday to discover who I am, what I love, what makes me happy. We all have passions in our lives. Some of them get discovered and developed. All too often they do not. There are just too many other things that need to be done, so we put our hearts on the back burner. If you are lucky like me, you will have at least one person in your life that won’t let you do that. They will push you toward your bliss. Jeff does that for me. He gives me the freedom to do what I need to do. He supports me in every endeavor, every goal set and met and helps pick up the pieces when I don’t quite get to the finish line. He celebrates the effort. I am a lucky woman.
The second is my cheerleader. He’s 9 and he inspires me on a daily basis. He is smart and loving and he is my hero. He loves being involved in all my projects. He asks questions, gives suggestions and opinions, whether you want them or not. He has the most uncanny insight to life. Not necessarily life as a male or female, just life in general. And, he cheers me on every day. “How did it go today mom? Are you finished with the product yet? Do I get to read it? Can I help with anything?”
This is my life and I wouldn’t change it, because it would mean changing the two most loving humans I have ever had the privilege to know. And they love me. It just blows me away. Thank you Jeff and Jeffrey for your hearts and your hope, your encouragement and your patience. I know I’m not easy, and you love me anyway.
I also dedicate this to a group of friends that are as different as night and day, winter and summer. Thank god you are not all alike. You give me so much because of your differences. It is because of you that I write this. It is in honor of you that I write this. I only hope that I can live up to being the girlfriend that you each deserve.
And to you Pat. Whether you know it or not, you started this whole thing. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I wish you had never gotten cancer. I couldn’t wish that away, and I know it. In the wake of that illness, you brought out the best in the girlfriends. All the girlfriends that came together to support you. It was something that would not be ignored. So here it is. My last dedication is to you. Your strength, your hope and your happy future.
Girlfriends for life…….it sounds hokey, but, with all things in being equal, it is just as possible as anything else.
