So, I'm finishing up a great workshop on fmwriters.com about submitting manuscripts to publishers and agents. Until now I haven't known much about this process except that it was extremely intimidating. Lol.

Thanks to the great mods at fmwriters I think I now have a solid synopsis, query letter and way to approach the whole process.

Although I've published "The Rift" on lulu here, and will probably do the same with its sequel, I feel the need to submit the manuscript to some other publishers as well. So, with any luck I may have some help marketing and promoting my stuff in the future.

As far as my writing goes, I'm making big progress on the sequel and also on my vampire novel, tentatively titled "Sweet Disguise". I'm not set on that title yet, but it may stick.

Anyway, I have been reading some great books by some authors I'm just discovering. Richelle Mead is officially one of my new fav authors as are the Cast team: P.C. and Kristin. The House of Night Novels are incredible. As usual when I find a good book, I find myself wishing I had written it myself. Lol.

Well, that's all for now. I'll keep updating with news and progress reports as I see fit.

    Happy reading!

  • Making progress on the sequel

    2008 Feb 02

Just wanted to update everyone and let you know that I'm making a lot of progress on the sequel to The Rift. I've typed a LOT of pages that have been written in notebooks and I'm getting them all in order in the manuscript. The story is beginning to feel like a book now. It's very exciting. I still don't have a title for the book yet, but I'm not worried about that yet. The last title was an inspiration of my husband's after reading the story, and I'm sure we'll come up with something great soon.

I've also sent off the first half of the story (mostly because that's all that I had organized) to Diane, my wonderful sister-in-law who helps me make sense of day and night when it comes to the stories. I can't wait for her input. She's been a vital part of the editing process and is always so helpful.

Also, I have a small announcement to make concerning The Rift. It is in the processing stage of being included in the Google Book Search program and I hope that it will be finalized in the next week or so. I'm very excited about this. The people at Google have been just wonderful in helping me include the book.

Well, I'm off to get some more writing in while the little one naps. I'll post again very soon.

    Happy reading!

  • New Look for the Site

    2008 Jan 13

I have finally got the new layout for the site finished. I may make some minor changes occasionally but this will be the basic layout. It's not too hard to navigate. I'll be updating my blog more often with occasional sneak peaks from my work. Currently I'm working on the sequel to The Rift and on a modern day vampire story set in Florida. It should be fun to share bits and pieces with the readers and get your feedback.

    Check back soon for more!

Prince Nicholaus, heir to the throne of Baramore, is less than eager to be responsible for commanding an entire kingdom. King Locke is anxious to retire the position to his only son, but knows well the pressures Nicholaus faces. Questioning his own abilities, Nicholaus fears that his time upon the throne will come before he has found a companion who would rule Baramore alongside him. Between the time it takes for his kingdom to win a battle across the valley, and to host a party that celebrates the victory, Nicholaus’s fate changes forever when he chances a surprise encounter with a lady from another kingdom. The only thing as unfamiliar to him as the new emotions he’s embracing is how difficult it will be to court the daughter of a sworn enemy. When Princess Arianna is kidnapped, Nicholaus races against time and against Arianna’s own brother to find her. While walking the fine line between love and treason, Nicholaus’s journey forces him to find humility, friendship and above all, himself.
