Let me introduce you to a young man with vision. Dustin Jenkins, a spirited thirteen-year-old, senses that he’s become a little fish in an immense ugly ocean. He and his family are forced to move (plant closure) from their idyllic small town to his grandparent’s small bungalow located deep within the urban landscape. Dustin becomes overwhelmed by the confining space of his new home as well as the discomfort he feels dealing with a grandfather who is incoherent and wheelchair bound. His new school is harsh, loud and foreign to him. Most of all, he discovers that his feelings are raging out of control. Dustin is convinced that he has lost his identity. Must he resist these changes? Can he fight back? How will he cope? Who will he turn to? Last Stand is a 30 000 word middle-grade, contemporary novel that retells how Dustin, with the support of an assorted group of new friends and old contacts, overcomes feelings of anger and resentment to successfully reestablishes his identity.

Consider this recipe. Take an unusual and unique setting. Add the threat of terorism in the aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy! Expose an active sleeper cell! Reveal the Saddam-Bin Laden connection! Discover a cache of weaponized ricin! Target, Erie, Pennsylvania for destruction! Throw in a frantic pursuit by suicide assassins! Add a pinch of deceit, deception and betrayal! Season it with a climatic airborne chase and a dogfight to the death! Then sprinkle in some personal redemption! Let me introduce to you the inimitable Caleb McKay, a retired surveillance officer and profiler, who experiences all of the above in his debut action/adventure novel entitled, Red Sky in Mourning. Although he is content with his state of enforced anonymity, I am advocating for the public recognition Caleb McKay so richly deserves. Please entertain the possibility of bringing this protagonist to life, as you experience the fast paced adventure in this, the first book in the Caleb McKay Series.
