About this book...
The Psychodrama Papers contains fifteen articles and papers which John Nolte has written or co-authored over the past 30 years. Some have been previously published; most have not. This book is not a “How to” book or even a comprehensive explication of psychodrama, but it does provide practical suggestions for handling a variety of situations which the practicing psychodramatist may encounter from time to time. The articles cover topics from the practical to theoretical and philosophical aspects of psychodrama. The book should be of special interest to trainers and students as well as practitioners of psychodrama, and to phenomenological and existential psychologists as well. Curious psychotherapists of other theoretical and methodological orientations will find some of their questions about psychodrama answered here.
About the Author...
John Nolte has been involved with psychodrama for more than 45 years. He estimates that he has directed, supervised, or otherwise participated in over 4000 psychodrama sessions. His book contains some of the insights and understanding he has accumulated during those years. John trained at the Moreno Institute with J. L. Moreno and Zerka T. Moreno during the 1960’s, and served as Director of Training for the Institute after the death of J. L. Moreno. His career has been largely in the mental health field, although he has always sought and advocated for non-clinical applications of psychodrama. For the past 14 years, John has been instrumental in introducing the use of psychodrama into the world of trial lawyers. He also is a trainer for the National Psychodrama Training Center which conducts professional psychodrama workshops in various regions of the country.
