Print: $8.00 Download: $5.00 Joseph Boulnois was a student of Vierne, and wrote quite a bit of music, most of which was unpublished, as he died in World War 1 at the tender age of 34. These 4 miniatures last 1 and a half to two minutes for a total of 7 minutes for the set. Rich impressionist harmonies and unusual twists of melody make them a refreshing addition to your repertoire.

Print: $11.56 When in 2006, I had the good fortune of teaching four young organ students, I decided to write pieces for each of them. Using a system used by other composers, I spelled out each of their first names in musical notes, using the following system, in which the top line represents a musical note and the remaining lines indicate alphabet equivalents.
“Timothy’s Tune” was written for twelve year old Timothy Davis
“Mary Kate’s Melody” was written for sixteen year old Mary-Katherine Kraeger.
“Für Annelise” was written for fourteen year old Annelise Driscoll
“Cody’s Carillon” was written for fourteen year old Cody Engstrom.
Each piece is playable by the student for whom it was written, giving ample testimony to the
talent and dedication of this wonderful group of young musicians. Alternate titles have been provided for performers who prefer to use a title which is less personal.

Print: $10.03 Organists are sometimes called upon to do the unexpected with little advance notice, and the composer of these four works is often asked for emergency offertories or preludes that can be prepared instantly. Accordingly, he wrote these four short easy pieces to help fulfill that kind of need. They are meant to be learnable in a couple of practice sessions, if not overnight. All are playable with soft accompaniments and gentle solo stops.

Print: $11.04 When in the fall of 2004, I found myself in the enviable position of teaching three specially talented organists in their mid-teens, I decided that one way to recognize their abilities was to write pieces in their honor. The goals I set were that (1) each piece must reflect the personality of the student for whom it was written, (2) each piece must be within the technical grasp of the student for whom it was written, and (3) each piece, although written for a young artist, must be of sufficient appeal that it could be used by any organist. Just as it is a joy to teach such outstanding young people, it has been a joy to match compositions to each of their unique personalities. The titles given include the first name of each student. Although alternate titles are included for performers who may prefer more generic names, it is my hope that the original titles be used in special recognition of the remarkable achievements of these young artists.

Print: $29.95 This collection is the result of twenty years’ worth of Advent and Christmas services, Masses, concerts and recordings. Most of the twenty-five organ works were directly inspired by whatever organ I was playing at the time. The most distinguished of these was the renowned 1859 E. & G. G. Hook Organ at First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain, which I had the honor of playing between 1989 and 2001. Advent and Christmas offered the best opportunities to exploit this instrument’s full palette of tone colors. On 18
January 2005 the organ perished in a fire, a tragedy that I have never gotten over.
For me, a December without organ pipes would be like a framed canvas without paint on it. It is my
sincerest hope that the music in this collection add a few drops of color to your Yuletide celebrations.– L. C.

 |
Print: $29.95 Most of these works are not too well-known; and at this writing (fall, 2009), almost all are
unavailable anywhere else.
Holst’s CHRISTMAS DAY and Berlioz’s SHEPHERD’S FAREWELL2 are beloved by choirs, but not available
as organ solos.
Although the only thing Christmasy about GRANDE OFFERTOIRE-NOEL is the title, this unabashedly
Romantic work has always been well received by congregations.
In addition, I have shamelessly included two of my carol fantasias which, I warn you, will require quite a bit of
pedal practice!
I hope you will enjoy playing these works, as I have for the past 65 years, and will add them to your repertoire.
And a very Merry Christmas to you all.

Print: $24.99 Download: $15.00 While Orgelbüchlein means, “Little Book for the Organ,” Orgeleinbuch means, “Book for the Little Organ.” Even though I enjoy playing a four-manual E. M. Skinner, I derive no less pleasure playing the historic, one-manual organs of Europe. Sometimes the keyboard offers only 45 notes. What does one play on these instruments? Since Vierne, reams of “manuals only” music has been written. Unfortunately little of it is effective, or even playable, on these historic instruments. I decided to fill this void, creating music not constrained by these limitations but inspired by them. Das Orgeleinbuch runs the gamut of styles – fugues, choralpreludes, Gregorian preludes, dances, etc. The sacred pieces explore all of the important Christian seasons, while the secular ones have no ecclesiastical implications. Certain pieces can be played on organs with divided keyboard. (Such organs offer very interesting registrational possibilities). Each of the pieces can be played on a 45-note keyboard without pedals.

Print: $27.49 I dedicated my 2nd Symphony in Dm to Margrit Pfister. The 4 movements are periods of her life. The movements, keys and sound colors are outlines that picture her many-sided and varied life path. There are dark, threatening passages alongside comforting, soothing, contemplative, encouraging, even joyful, hopeful and confident stages. These stages are expressed in the many shades of a composition, which originates in the classical organ tradition taking its skill and priorities from the way of using and establishing the means and facilities of this specific instrument in order to realize the composer's aims. Ps. 23 may be read parallel to this symphony. Here are the biblical themes which correspond to the four movements of the symphony:
1 - “in the valley of the shadow of death” – mortal danger
2 - “He leadeth me” – the right path
3 - “the LORD is my shepherd” – my cup runneth over
4 - “in the house of the LORD” – forever

Print: $26.26 Symphony No 1, op.4 “Jewish”
The question why there are specific symphonies called by the names of countries and nations has been on my mind ever since I was in my teens. There are Italian, Scottish and other symphonies. Why is there no Jewish one? – or maybe there is one, however I may not know this music. Therefore I have thought a lot about composing Jewish music for organ. After the deep upset at the assassination of our Israeli Prime Minister Jitzhak Rabin In the year 1995, I started composing “Mourning Jitzhak Rabin”. Encouraged by my friends and my public's response I continued my composing activities. The present organ symphony in E-flat minor is a “symphony-question”, that is the question about the uncertain, incomprehensible, inscrutable, undetermined position of the Jews in our world. This uncertainty is expressed by the practically missing endings of the first, third and fourth movements. These movements end with a question.

Print: $16.11 The Nigerian Organ Symphony was composed between November 30 and December 3, 2007, at Talladega, Alabama State. The music is influenced by the compositional techniques of nineteenth century French organ symphonies, in particular, Louis Vierne and Charles-Marie Widor’s works. Even though the character, style, and registrations of the five movements of this work is influenced by French music, the Nigerian Organ Symphony is infused with distinct African music creative and performance procedures such as scales, ostinati, call-and-response, interlocking rhythms, dance nuances, folk melodies, bell patterns, drum patterns, foot stamping and hand clapping rhythms. The five pieces are suitable for various occasions within the church calendar, such as preludes and postludes, processions, weddings, concerts, communion, as well as other contemplative aspects of services in the church.

Print: $16.11 The 5 African Dances was composed between June 11 and 23, 2007, in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a collection of 5 pieces based on distinct Nigerian folk melodies and traditional rhythmic patterns, with the exception of “Tribute to Highlife,” “Ijo Faaji,” and “Palongo,” which are original in conception and realization. African music could be conceptualize from various parameters: dance, communication, social, political, economical, ritual, utilitarian, organology, melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, theoretical framework, creative and performance procedures, religious, and linguistic perspectives. The 5 African Dances celebrate and demonstrate significant aspects of African music through the use of tuneful melodies, repetitions, simplicity, call-and-response technique, harmonic organization, scale system, traditional creative procedures and irresistible dance rhythms. In addition, this work is a true summation of intercultural creativity–the amalgamation of Western idioms with African idioms.
