Both led tragic lives and endured different kinds of suffering. Both were brave enough to carry their suffering into their work, thus giving it an eerie, timeless power that cannot be ignored. They lived in the same time, but different places, and I often wonder what my two heroes would have thought of each other, had they met. What they may have thought of each other's work.
