From its launch on April 28, 2006 as SLR Shooters, Light Cafe has striven to be a photography forum with a difference. Rules are kept to a minimum, in order to encourage open, honest and thorough discussion of photographs, with the goal of helping all members improve their craft. There are no limits to the number or size of photos posted (sorry dial up users). The only real rule is to be respectful to each other.

In its first eight months of existence, Light Cafe has grown to approximately 150 users, who have posted over 30,000 messages in more than 3500 threads. Several hundred high-quality photos have been posted by some very talented photographers. The photos in this collection represent just a small set of the many fine images produced by members of the Light Cafe.

It's been an exciting year since the publication of the first Light Cafe photography collection. The forum has grown from 150 active users to 212 (remembering that inactive users are deleted). The number of threads has grown from approximately 3500 to over 9000, and close to 53,000 posts have been entered, bringing the total to almost 83,000. Not bad for just one year.

Another year of great photos, great critique and great chatter has passed. Our photographers continue to help each other grow and advance in their chosen craft.

This year brings the third edition of the Light Cafe Photography Collection. Narrowing the selection down to 80 photographs from the over 230 submitted is no easy task. Many high quality, and deserving photos get left out. But hopefully this tough process brings out the very best of Light Cafe, as selected by the members.
