About Robert J. Laplander:
Born: Tucson, Arizona February 23rd, 1966
Current Residence: Tichigan, Wisconsin
Marital Status: Married (Trinie Liz) with 2 children (John David, Joyline Rose).
Interests/Occupations: Former award winning semi-professional singer/songwriter (22 years). Enjoys reading and battlefield archaeology. Currently teaches early 20th Century military history and tactics with the Southeastern Wisconsin Military Cadet Explorer program, where he holds the rank of Captain.

Honors:
Has lectured the command staffs of the 77th and 78th
Regional Readiness Command staffs on leadership lessons
learned from the Lost Battalion episode.
Lectured the 28th infantry Division command staff on the
activities of their division in the Meuse-Argonne
Offensive during Sept-Oct 1918.
Keynote speaker at the discontinuation ceremony for the
77th Regional Readiness Command in September, 2008 at the
personal behest of the divisional commander of the 77th.
Instrumental in erecting a new storyboard dedicated to
the Lost Battalion episode at the site of the action in
France.
Has lead battlefield tours along the Western Front and
specific tours of the Lost Battalion area.
Please note that due to his Lost Battalion work load during this past year, as well as events scheduled for 2009, an enforced delay has necessarily been placed on all of Mr. Laplander's forthcoming works on other subjects. At least two more extensive written projects, concerning one of the company's of the Lost Battalion and the overall commander of the force, Major Charles W. Whittlesey, are currently in the works. Please check back here from time to time for updates on these projects, as well as Mr. Laplander's upcoming work on the 'Wooden Horse' escape from Stalag Luft III in WW2, and the edited memoirs and diary of a 32nd Division medic in WW1.
