THE MOLA! This 12 month calendar has 13 photographs from a private collection of beautiful Kuna Indian Molas. The Kuna women create intricate designs by using a reverse appliqué technique that involves cutting through layers of brightly colored cloth to reveal the different fabrics beneath and sew these panels into the fronts and backs of their blouses. The themes of their Molas are influenced by nature, religion, myths, the Panama Canal, visitors to their islands and other events in their surrounding. The Kuna live in the San Blas, a chain of islands in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of The Republic of Panama and Columbia.
