It is pedantic, stilted, parsed, and qualified... But since I spent so much time in the literature trying to find articles that would be helpful to me as a practicing high school teacher, I thought I should at least say a few things about this literature for others who might be in a similar situation. That is why I wrote this book. I would probably not have written it if I felt that there was something out there saying substantially the same thing. My sense is that there are some teachers out there that will benefit from this work and its perspective. If there are, this work is dedicated to them."
