Jamestown

JamestownJamestown (book)

Print: $16.95

Just published in January,JAMESTOWN 2007 is the "last word" on historic and exciting events happening all over Virgina - commemorating the 400th anniversary of the founding of modern America in 1607. Written by three past presidents of the Society of American Travel Writers and illustrated with full page photographs by an internationally-known team of photojournalists, this book vividly describes the new archeology museum at Historic Jamestown (where you will see the recreated face of a 17th century settler), America's Glory Gallery at Jamestown Settlement with 17th century life size restorations of a London street scene and an African village, the new Griffon - world's tallest dive coaster at Busch Gardens, the battle of Merrimack and Monitor at the Mariner's Museum - and much, much more. This book is more than a travel guide; it's a lasting pictorial keepsake of the commemoration of America's 400 year-old history that began on a marshy island on the James River in Virginia.

The Evil I Do

The Evil I DoThe Evil I Do (book)

Print: $19.50

Travel writer Ron Travers flying to Russia wangles a cockpit interview – only to discover almost all the instruments blinking, the pilot drinking, and the copilot comatose. The pilot, Captain Ivanov, pulls a pistol from his flight bag, shoots his stewardess and then himself. This is the just the beginning as two FBI agents are faced with finding out why a Russian airliner went far off its London-Moscow course and crashed in a Florida reservoir. On another level, it is the story of a man who can meet his toughest professional challenge only by overcoming agnosticism and opening his mind to the possibility of a spiritual dimension. The author is Richard Janssen, formerly a reporter and editor on The Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek magazine for some 35 years.

Laughter

Laughter! is not a joke book nor is it a book that encourages you to "whistle a happy tune" and "don't worry - be happy." Instead it is a resource that encourages you to focus first of all on the fact that God loves us in Christ Jesus and frees us to be His celebrating people in our daily lives. It is a book that exclaims loudly and boldly and hopefully humorously the fact that we need the Lord Jesus in our daily lives to celebrate life as holy and as a gift from God. May these pages bring many joy-filled thoughts and feelings to you and encourage you to tell and live your stories of Good Friday and Easter. May the power of the spirit tickle you each day! Let there be laughter - in Christ Jesus! Richard Bimler, Robert Bimler.

Saturday, December 16,1944 Mission #5 Brux, Czechoslovakia They woke us up in plenty of time for briefing at 0540 on two missions. We've started for Brux three or four times - but we finally hit it today. Formation was rough, and we had a couple of hot running engines an hour or so before target time. One of the tubos acted up. There was plenty of flak at the target. If we had ever gone through that cloud of fire they put up, we'd never had made it. As it was, we didn't get hit at all. There were supposed to be fighters in the area but we didn't see any. The whole trip took nine hours. After supper - we took in a short G.I. show. C.T. 26:40 (9:00) (C.T> is crew time). This book is the daily diary of 2nd Lt. Robert E. Harrison, recounting hours of daytime boredom on the base mingled with moments of tension and screaming battles in the air as he flew a B-24. If you are interested in World War II in the air. this book is the real deal.
