Print: $13.95 Download: $3.95 The book that launched American "Beat Zen!" In a 1954 letter to poet Allen Ginsberg (Howl, Kaddish), emerging literary giant Jack Kerouac (On The Road, The Dharma Bums)wrote that Dwight Goddard's A BUDDHIST BIBLE was "by far the best book" available on the subject of Buddhism. Its clear, reader-friendly elucidation of such important Zen Scriptures as The Diamond Sutra, The Prajna Paramita Sutra and The Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch opened the door for Kerouac's personal immersion into daily Zen practice, and through his many Buddhist-influenced novels and other writings, for the enlightenment of generations of "Beatnik's," Hippies and serious students of the Dharma to come.
This 2007 New Paradigm Press edition has been carefully edited by author and thirty year Zen practitioner Lawrence W. Dolnick to update spelling and grammatical peculiarities to meet the needs of modern readers without sacrificing the informative richness and inspiring charm of the original.

Print: $11.95 Download: $3.95 "What the science of the West is doing for the growth (and the development) of wheat and barley, Buddha did for the growth of the soul. He taught men that, if they would bring their lives into harmony with certain fundamental laws of Nature, their souls would grow--as well-tended crops grow--vigorously and healthily; and that the sense of well-being which accompanies successful growth, and which, when consciously realized, is true happiness, would be theirs."
[From Chapter IX, "Light From the East"]
THE CREED OF BUDDHA: How the True Teachings of Buddhism Can Revitalize Western Science and Spirituality shines a brilliant intellectual light on the inner teachings of the Buddhist religion, and makes a convincing argument for the revolutionary role Buddha's unique, enlightened understanding of the mind and soul of Humanity may be destined to play in the revitalization of Western materialist science and supernatural spirituality.

Print: $9.95 Download: $3.95 Compassion for all creatures is the true religion.
—Buddha-charita
Westerners often mistake Buddhism for an intellectual or nihilistic religion whose sole focus is "enlightenment," but the true teachings of the Compassionate Buddha have for more than 2,500 years shared a "Gospel" of Loving-kindness and selfless concern for all sentient beings that has blessed the hearts and lives of millions around the world. Let the 400 sayings in this collection – one for each day of the year, with dozens to spare! – be a constant, daily reminder to open your heart as well as you mind to the light – and love! -- of the Awakened One.

Download: $1.00 A New paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! What is the purpose or goal of meditation? This question forms one of the primary stumbling blocks for many Westerners first encountering Buddhism. The Western mind, reared on goal-oriented pragmatism, balks at the notion of a "goal-less" practice. Any project whose end-product cannot be clearly delineated in advance will not likely be deemed worthy of extended effort. Yet when one observes individuals who have overcome this hesitation, who diligently practice meditation despite its apparent "impracticality," one quickly sees that, in fact, something very practical is happening, indeed. Where no end-product is being pursued, something is being produced. This "product" may manifest as an invisible inner calm, a piercing sense of intuitive perception or a general air of "luminosity" of which the meditator him or herself may not even be aware. What is going on here?

In this paper, I explore Buddhist teachings regarding faith, belief, and the difference between these terms. I also examine the individual's relationship to doctrine on the Buddhist path. It is my hope that this exploration might lead seekers on all spiritual paths to discover the unique possibilities embodied in this Buddhist approach to the Divine, and the great advantage adopting such a view can lend to any spiritual quest, regardless of the Tradition in which it is centered.

Download: $1.00 A new Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! "Mom," I boldly offered one evening, "They're right. America is the Great Satan. We've trashed the Third World for two hundred years. It's about time they trashed us back."
Stunned silence. Burning cheeks.
"I can't believe you," she said. "You sound like a Communist. You sound like that Abbie Hoffman."
Really?, I thought. Like Abbie Hoffman? The guy too dangerous to read? I remind you of him?
I had to know more about this Abbie Hoffman. By comparing me to Abbie, Mom had meant to insult me, to label me a full-fledged traitorous anarcho-Communist freak. For me, though, with no real information beyond the memory of the Steal This Book incident years before, what she'd done was hand me the keys to full membership in the Great Subversive WE. If I was to accept that membership, I reasoned, I'd better find out exactly who WE are...
I stole the book…

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! I didn't have any other example by which to explain my belief that peace was not attained by stopping war, but by learning to love and value our fellow human beings. The 1960s dropout Counter-culture was the only example I knew of a mass scale, American attempt to create communities of peace and love in the midst of war.
Of this I was certain: To meet the violent hysteria of war with an equally hysterical peace movement could only stir the pot, could only create an irreconcilable Us-Them situation. As with the war, there would have to be winners and losers. It would be a political, ideological struggle that could only breed greater violence.
But to meet a hysterical world with love, with an open heart and a willingness to understand and include, might eventually bring a lasting peace, an Us-Us situation in which everybody won.
And to be so idealistic, so Utopian, was embarrassing...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! What better definition could you ask for the word ANXIETY? The weight that isn't there. The weight of wasted potential, of what might have been, of what's stalking us around life's next corner, of pending deadlines, the unmet expectations of others... The weight that isn't there makes everything light by comparison. The little joys in life stay small or vanish altogether in its shadow. The weight that isn't there outweighs them all.
And one anxiety can flatten a whole world. Like a blackhole in space, it draws all light into itself. It makes the darkness darker, the blackness blacker, so black it can't be seen, but can be detected only by its gravitational pull on everything around it, by the gradual disappearance, one by one, of the shining stars and planets it consumes.
But Michael also showed me, that night, anxiety's antidote -- the courage to be...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! "So, um... What would happen if, like, after you join the church and stuff, like, maybe as an adult, a person sort of, like, decided to change religions or something?"
Fire and Brimstone pressed his large hands together and broke into a wide, patient smile. "That's okay," he said. "Say a person starts out a Methodist, and decides later to become a Presbyterian or a Baptist. That's okay, because we're all brothers in Christ. When people get married they often change denominations so the husband and wife can attend the same church." He scanned the crowd of cowering middle school faces as if measuring our blind acceptance of his statements. To my renewed horror, I felt my mouth opening again, heard words again splashing out like flat rocks breaking still water.
"Okay, thanks, Reverend... But like, okay, what if someone, as a grown-up maybe, wanted to become something like, say, a Buddhist ...?"

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! In Biblical accounts of theophany, from Abraham to Moses to Ezekiel to Paul, those on whom revelation falls mostly find God in thundering voices, in pillars of smoke and fire, or in blinding visions that leave them shaking with revealed Truth. In Pynchon's world, finding God is more akin to finding a quarter in the coin-slot of a payphone. What leaves us shaking is the unexpectedness of finding it there, having to ask ourselves what hidden impulse drove us to check in the first place.
Then, of course, the coin might be counterfeit, a mere slug. Should we bite it and find out? Should we spend it quickly and pass the problem on to someone else? Should we sneak it back into the coin-slot and try to forget having found it at all?
Not if we want to win the game...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! Far from being a simple list of "Do's and Don'ts" or "Thou Shalt Not's," the Nine Pillars for Creating a New Paradigm are a set of creative attitudinal stances or frameworks, helpful concepts for locating yourself personally in the larger universe, for finding a perspective on life, yourself and everyone else that, while addressing no one situation specifically, can allow you to greet all human experience from a position of inner freedom, openness and integrity, to make the most of every experience, come what may. Living the Nine Pillars grants the Old Paradigm permission to go ahead and finally crumble around you, while allowing surprising New Paradigms to rise up and flourish in healthy ways at every turn.

Download: $1.00 A new Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! The act of breaking free is called "stopping the world." While we partake of surface-only existence, we define reality, ourselves and what is possible for us as individuals according to human consensus reality, accepting the limitations and definitions imposed on us by family, cultural and religious conditioning (among other factors.) The experience of "stopping the world," of freeing ourselves, even momentarily, from all limiting definitions of self and world in a sense destroys both – the self and world we once knew and believed all-encompassing fall away, never to return. Once we have experientially sampled those deeper layers of reality, verifying their existence for ourselves and putting the lie to our previously cherished illusions, we can never again accept limitation. We can never return to who we once were; that person has died. In his place stands a newly initiated shaman.

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! The first time I felt that union I was blown away. I blamed the beer. But then I experienced it again and again, learned to generate it at will from the stage. I came to believe that the so-called "Mystery of Oneness" touted by saints and mystics was something of a misnomer – in four-dimensional spacetime the mystery is not the Oneness; the mystery is why we should ever live in three dimensions only, forgetting each moment our deep connection to the moment just passed, to the time-body of our individual and collective lives, the interpenetrating paths that make us all one in the long story of human evolution, in the eternal Oneness of a universe in endless motion...

Real people facing an ET invasion threat, ersatz or real, would do exactly what the family did in Signs – board up the windows, lock themselves in the basement, cling to their loved ones, and take up weapons to defend themselves. I pity the poor shadow-government rube who gets caught wearing a rubber alien suit in the cornfields of rural Missouri (or most anyplace else in America), where the guns are loaded and folks take property rights v-e-r-y seriously... A couple of dead "faux-aliens" would be a near certainty in the first days of such a scenario, which would expose the hoaxed nature of the "invasion" overnight, further undermining any human hopes for claiming global power...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! From our human perspective, these principles may to some extent seem counterintuitive or illogical, but present global circumstances clearly demonstrate that our standard earthbound "intuitive" and "logical" approaches to addressing our planet's difficulties flat out don't work. They are clearly based on false assumptions, and have proven to lead us, again and again, right back to these same painful moments of confrontation and strife, to succumbing, again and again, to the seductive siren songs of War, Greed, Hatred and Control through Fear.
We can do better. Extraterrestrial intelligences have been trying to show us a better way for eons now, and it's high time we listened. Our understanding and acceptance of these core cosmic principles could well spell the difference between our positive evolution as a species and our decline into a new Dark Age, between the final establishment of Heaven or Hell on Earth.

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! Neither Jung nor Campbell, at least to their public admission, were ever abducted by space aliens, as was Betty Andreason. They never went on a voluntary joyride in a flying saucer, as did George Adamski. They were never commanded to speak for the Interplanetary Parliament, as was Sir George King. They were never, as was George Van Tassel, given schematics for a rejuvenating age-reversal machine they'd spend a lifetime laboring to hand-build, board by board, in the California desert. And that's too bad...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! When flying saucer buffs think about aliens, a variety of images come to mind, from Blonde Pleiadians , Men In Black, Reptilians, Mantis-types, and on and on... But for the general public, the word "alien" has become near-synonymous with "the Greys," those diminutive midnight abductors with bulbous heads and black, wrap-around eyes… Heartless creatures obsessed with human reproduction and cattle parts, these spectral Visitors present a perfect screen onto which our society projects its worst Millennial nightmares, as evidenced in the extreme by FOX TV's Dark Skies, in which Greys are found lurking behind every conspiratorial twist of modern history, as they manipulate our species toward global enslavement.
The testimony of literally thousands of abductees leaves little doubt as to the existence of these beings. They are here. But what do we know, concretely, about their origin, nature and purpose among us?

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! According to a December, 2002 Roper poll, most people (67% of Americans) believe intelligent life exists on other planets, and (56%) that extraterrestrials have visited the Earth, and continue to do so today. But when a spouse or friend or neighbor of these very same people steps forward claiming to be in direct contact with visiting extraterrestrials, to have notebooks filled with communication transcripts, they are most often, in our society, labeled deluded, liars, sensation hounds. The message they bring to Humanity is ignored. Why? Why do we accept the possibility of any phenomenon's real, concrete existence, whether God or ET, then reflexively reject all evidence of its reality?

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! Bly never actually mentions aliens or UFOs in Iron John, but that's what the quote made me think of. America has probably always been a paranoid place, but an odd brand of uniquely generational mistrust seems to have appeared among us over the last thirty years like some demonic shadow cast by the meteoric rise of the "Love Generation." Think back to the paranoid visions of the past: Anarchists, Fascists, Nazi's, Communists – America's nightmare bogeymen throughout the first half of the 20th Century were seen almost exclusively as outside agitators, those quasi-mythical "others" beyond our borders, at the edge of vision, categorically anti-American by virtue of being unquestionably non-American, non-WASP, and, whose, we were sure (to quote H.G. Wells), "... intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this Earth (read "Country") with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us."

Download: $1.00 A new Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! ... The exhilarating picture that emerges [from this line of reasoning] is of a rather (at least subjectively) small universe teeming with a great diversity of life, of voices, views and possibilities – a universe in which, not only are we not alone, but in which planetary solitude and species isolation from the greater community of life stretching endlessly in every direction is by far the least likely possibility of all. What emerges is a picture of a universe in which – whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not – we are inseparably connected members of one Universal Family On-line...

Download: $1.00 A New Paradigm Press DOLLAR DOWNLOAD! So much of the discussion over the years has focused on what happened [at Roswell], who knew about it, who did what, etc., that very little attention has been directed toward what I believe is the most important question of all – why cover up? Determining why such extreme measures might seem justified to those behind them would go a long way toward exposing the real meaning behind this core contact event, its aftermath, and the future of everything from UFO studies to life on Earth.
In 1988, Raymond Boeche surveyed 475 psychologists and psychiatrists and discovered that 47% of mental health professionals believed that "mass panic would occur" should the government openly announce the reality of ET contact. 65% felt "financial chaos would result due to culture shock." 53% expected religious beliefs to be shattered.
But are we really so fragile a species? ...

"There it is! Let's go!"
One of the personal peculiarities that drew my parents together was a shared love for chasing UFOs. This was the early Sixties, before the New Age had twisted the sport into an expensive tourist attraction. In their day, it took guts. There was no cruise director holding your hand, no air-conditioned tour bus to protect you from the blistering desert sun, no security guard to warn you when you were getting too close...
A squeal of tires as the open convertible veers from the pavement. A grinding moan as the engine adjusts to the floored accelerator. The steady clatter of rocks pelting the undercarriage, zinging up into the air as the car rockets across the open sand.
"Get a picture! Quick! Before it moves!"...
