These vulnerable and fragile patients seek out help and a little TLC. They want to be listened to and understood. But there’s no time. Instead, they are often given disempowering treatment, numbing medication, and the stigma of mental illness. They wonder if anyone cares.
Nearing Christmas, Dominic’s head is crammed with voices. Lisa is in a daze and Nathan has the shakes. Rocking in unison, they hold onto themselves tightly because no one else will hold them. They are alonetogether.
Jason visits his schizophrenic wife in a secure ward. She’s on the floor, motionless, unreachable. With ‘Care in the Community’ he now provides 24-7 care. They are alonetogether. He sees no future. He wonders if anyone cares about the carer.

With the advent of ‘Care in the Community’ Jason is expected to look after her 24-7. He feels abandoned and forgotten; left wondering if anyone cares about the carer.

Vulnerable and fragile patients admitted to New Hope need to be Treated With Care, with a little bit of TLC. They want someone who will listen to them, someone who will understand them. But there’s never any time for that. Instead they receive Treatment. Do they recover, improve? Not really! They are disempowered, medicated, stigmatized. But there are some changes: they are now dehumanized!
