Print: $29.30 The Portal is a visual music composition which uses the medium
of Photonality. Photonality is music and performance integrated
with the properties of photography to create a visual rhythmic flow.
Artist in the past, such as Kandinsky, Klee and Pollack, to name a
few, have used 2 dimensional picture planes to create the feel for
music. Where Photonality differs is that it uses multiple images to
create a visual rhythmic composition, with one image moving into
the next, the same as notes on a sheet of music. The camera acts
as an additional instrument within the performance moving in,out
and around an axis to record the movement of light and forms in a
rhythmic dance. The 35mm format of the images has the geometric
properties of the Golden Rectangle. The Golden Rectangle is
believed to have been first constructed by Pythagorus in the
6th Century B.C. It is said to be one of the most visually pleasing
of all geometric forms. The Pythagoreans saw the essence of the cosmos as numbers.
