Bouguereau was a staunch traditionalist whose realistic genre paintings and mythological themes were modern interpretations of Classical subjects with a heavy emphasis on the female human body. Although he created an idealized world, his almost photo-realistic style was popular with rich art patrons. He was very famous in his time and was considered to be one of the greatest painters in the world by the Academic art community, and simultaneously he was reviled by the avant-garde. He also gained wide fame in Belgium, Holland, Spain, and in the United States, and commanded high prices.
He epitomized taste and refinement, and a respect for tradition. In 1900, Degas and Monet reportedly named him as most likely to be remembered as the greatest 19th-century French painter by the year 2000. Bouguereau’s works were eagerly bought by American millionaires who considered him the most important French artist of that time.

He sexually abused me from the age of 12 to 14. It ended when my mother read my diary and pulled me out of the house. I charged him shortly after and he was found guilty on two accounts of indecent dealings in 2007. The poems you are reading are the poems I wrote during this period in order to aid my recovery. As you can see they are spilt up into two main sections depicting the two main stages of the recovery process.
These poems shed significant light on many of my hardships and helped me soldier on and see the point to the war I was fighting when I needed it most. I hope they can help you in some way as they have helped me.

Austen lived her entire life as part of a large and close-knit family located on the lower fringes of English gentry. She was educated primarily by her father and older brothers as well as through her own reading. Austen’s artistic apprenticeship lasted from her teenage years until she was about thirty-five years old. During this period, she wrote three major novels and began a fourth. I may tell you it was one line of eleven words, read one night from a musty old volume of last century, which suggested it.
Everybody must have their play-hours and moments of recreation. I think I have gone back to other and more serious work all the better after writing a page or two of what follows. I am happy thus to have had my little holiday along with you in this ideal region of quaint conceits.

This book is a collection of pro – peace writings from the tradition of The Followers of the Way (commonly called Christians). Each article reflects various views surrounding the issue of war and peace. This collection was compiled by David Holdsworth.
