A HOME POEM
Introduction:
As you complete this activity, you’ll learn about poetry and rhyme scheme.
Materials:
You’ll need paper and a pen or pencil.
Directions:
Family Partner: Read aloud to your child the poem “An Ordinary Day,” by Kenn Nesbitt at http://www.poetry4kids.com/modules.php?name=Poems.
Point out that in this poem the last word of the second and fourth lines rhyme with each other.
Student:
Write another verse for Kenn Nesbitt’s poem. Use the same rhyme scheme he used.
Talk About It:
What is the rhyme scheme in your favorite poem? Write the title and author of that poem on these lines.
