Disc: $11.75 CHILDREN OF THE REDD is a tribute to the Scottish coalminer. It is a collection of songs, poetry and theatre about the Scottish coalminer and the demise of the Industry in the Scottish heartland. A traditional industry, its closure left an enormous vacuum in Scottish society.
It was as if we had been discarded much like the slag on the massive slagheaps. The local name for such coal slag was redd because of the red colours it took on after burning.
In the 1980’s in Scotland the coalminer was finally crushed by the Thatcher government and the days of the politically red Union and its hold on the industrial light switch were over.
However, with the increasing oil and gas prices within Europe coupled with global instability … who is to say that the Scottish coalminer is extinct ?

Disc: $10.50 CHILDREN OF THE FLAME is a faerie tale in the old gypsy tradition where a farmer returning home from the wars of middle ages Europe is met and tested by an old man of the woods – a hermit, a messenger from the faerie queen.
The farmer is told that his wife has borne him a son and that he may choose his fate; warrior, minstrel, mariner or priest …
A vision of his grown son then appears to him in each of those four guises and pleads his case for each pathway.

Disc: $11.75 THE SCIENCE CONSPIRACY … wherever you look in the science we developed in the 20th century there is a paradox … in fact it’s the same paradox just dressed up in different jargon. The paradox is created by taking things out of context – and also by selectively ignoring one or two important facts.
Science as we know it today practises reductionism looking at things under a microscope with blinkers on – whereas the real solution to some of these problems actually needs a holistic and more complex approach.
Such issues were beyond the antique philosophers like Darwin, Kant, Newton and Hume whose definition of a mainframe was an abacus but if these guys had had access to even a semi-working copy of windows 95 what we take for science today would probably be unrecognisable and very very workable.

This is the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival’s Acoustic Music Centre production and features the composition of Edith Fairlie as musical director and the songwriting team of John Dignan and Andrew Hennessey. An original tale by Andrew Hennessey told by Actors and piano and harp and keyboards, guitar and cello and flute and bodhran and the songs of John Dignan.
The show was recorded and produced at the famous Pier House studios in Granton, Edinburgh.
