In Sharing Friends, Gretchen and Kali are inseparable best friends. However, when the teacher sits them at different tables on the first day of school, Kali's seven year old world is rocked. Gretchen makes a new friend, Marta, at her new table.

Kali doesn't want to share Gretchen... and now Marta doesn't want to share Gretchen, either!

This all too familiar "friendship triangle" creates a lot of jealousy and unhappiness among the trio, almost losing ALL their friends in the process, until the girls learn the importance of sharing friends.

About the Author/Illustrator


Maribeth Bush has a master’s degree in counseling and works as an elementary school counselor. “I was inspired to write Sharing Friends as a resource to address friendship conflicts among children I work with,” explains Maribeth. “One friendship issue that pops up frequently is that of ‘sharing friends,’ and the perceived ‘ownership’ of friends.”

Maribeth has also worked in schools as an ability awareness educator and, in 1997, created the Can Do! Web site. Can Do! is aimed at helping children across the globe develop a can-do attitude and approach to life, despite any obstacles they might face.
