Just in Time
This collection of poems starts from a "fast forward" of
30 years and then goes back through the author's life as
retiree, wife, mother, lover, child. The scenes are San Francisco
in the 1960s and 1970s; the California coast, the West,
Mid-West and South. It's all memories now, just in time
and nowhere else. But as the title poem declares:
For me now is then, future and past.
I freeze-frame everyone,
those endearing or defining moments
frame after frame compressed into one
so that no one ages, leaves, or dies,
not in my mind.
