"Fer the good Lord commenced to hankerin' after the world something fierce, and up and gave 'ees only boy so's whoever took a notion to believe in 'eem ort not die, but just keep on livin' with 'eem in heaven forever n' ever." (John 3:16, The Hillbilly Bible)
The Hillbilly Bible...Not Makin' Fun a The Bible, Makin' The Bible Fun. HiDee y'all! This here's Stevie Rey. I done wrote this here book called The Hillbilly Bible. Well, I did'n really write it so much, 'twas the good Lord. I just kindly translated it into hillbilly. I reckon it'll cure what ails ye, if'n ye take a notion to git ye one of 'em. Y'all can git to know me better up on my blog, too. It's ri-cheer: The Hillbilly Blog Love y'all and King Jesus loves ye too! "Because of the odd 'hillbilly' language, syntax, and sentence structure, one is forced to rethink every single verse of the Bible; even those one knows by heart... and in doing so, essentially finding himself reading the verses AS IF FOR THE FIRST TIME. Anything that makes me fundamentally re-think the Bible and even my understanding of God is substantial, but that's just what THB does - and in a very good way. THB is a solid paraphrase that fits with conventional theology in a very unconventional way. It should be recommended reading for every seminarian." Rev. Howard Q. Stooksbury Ordained Elder, Church of the Nazarene The Bible has been paraphrased many times -- but none have been quite like this one. Like any paraphrase, it gives fresh meaning and fresh perspective on Scripture that you may have read many times before. - Plain Truth Ministries |
