I have grown up a farm girl from Indiana. I am the youngest of three children and in ways very much a loner. My siblings are much older than I am; my sister is twelve years older and my brother is eight years older. With my dad being a farm hand, I grew up around animals and the outdoors and all the things that go with it. My mom was a homemaker and probably my best friend. I learned important lessons about love and life from her. I miss her. She has been gone from this earth eighteen years now. I believe in God, in being honest and in having integrity and honor. I believe that having God, family and true friends are what is most important in life. Without them in one’s life, you are nothing and you have nothing. It is not living. You just exist. It was in high school some twenty years ago, when I first picked up the pen to put my thoughts to paper and in the years since, it has been a hit or miss thing. Until about three years ago, when I was encouraged to pick up the pen again and I have been writing full time, more or less, since then. I never thought, all those years ago, that I would be putting my words and emotions on paper, much less, be putting them in a book. I always thought that my artistic ability would be my life. My first love has always been drawing; anything and everything. Especially people. I love drawing pencil portraits and still do them occasionally. Now, I have another outlet for my creativity, by drawing with words and emotions. I just write what is within and upon my heart to write. Nothing fancy. I just write what I know and what I feel deep within. As a good friend of mine always says, ‘Do your research, then write it for yourself and always, write from the heart.’ I feel that if you can dig down and touch the heart, people are going to read and listen. They will read and listen because you have something to say; not just something to show.
