Welcome to my first outpost in the vast universe of speculative fiction. This is the moment in the game when the first colony ship lands, or the one world you start with is spinning alone in the void with the stars beckoning. Will the first encounter be friendly or hostile? Should I invest in infrastructure, technology research, or a good fence? I am a writer and editor of technical non-fiction. For many years I covered the defense electronics industry: electronic warfare; radar; electrooptic sensors; command, control, and communications; intelligence, surveillance, targeting, and reconnaissance (ISTAR); and guided weapons. Before that, I wrote about topics in mechanical engineering: computer-aided design and manufacturing, finite-element analysis, fluid-dynamics analysis, and electro-mechanical systems. "Outre Mer" is my first novel. In it, I essentially project the technologies I wrote about forward into a possible future and out into space. That's the science. Then I developed characters that I've come to enjoy spending time with and sent them out into the universe to follow their dreams. That's the fiction. To learn more "Outre Mer" and a little about me, please visit my website at www.mputtre.com. You can send me an email at mputtre@mputtre.com. Thanks for stopping by. --Michael Puttré, September 30, 2006
