Disc: $15.95 Over 80 years ago, Walter Ripman, in his 'Handbook of the Latin Language', organized Latin vocabulary into domains and subdomains. The noted New Testament scholar I. Howard Marshall, himself a student of Latin, claims that Ripman's reference was "an extremely useful way of organizing the material for a student learning Latin vocabulary." This DVD has 50 semantic fields, with sub-fields. It closely follows the pioneering work of Ripman. Each word is read in English and Latin, so correct quantity is learned naturally. Tens of thousands of words are presented - this DVD is intended to be listened to multiple times - initially this will be quite tiring, if not bewildering - however, this system will help to build your vocabulary rapidly, and, if refreshed on a monthly basis, the words you have learned will become consolidated, and new words will become engraved in your mind with each subsequent iteration.

Disc: $15.95 George Adler's "A Practical Grammar of the Latin Language for Speaking and Writing Latin" contains 171 exercises, called Dictata. These are available on disc 1 and 2 of the course CD. On this special disc, the Dictata have been read through afresh, without any gaps or interruptions.
They are read here in the restored pronunciation of Latin by Evan Millner, in their entirety; they provide a useful tool with which to easily review and consolidate what you have learned from the entire Adler course.
The method used in Adler's book is particularly valuable, as Latin, by the use and absence of particles, exhibits a great variety in its construction of interrogative sentences, with subtle shades of distinction. The intense focus on the form of Latin questions is one of the great strengths of this method.

Disc: $7.97 In the early 1500's Mathurin Corderius composed a series of scripted conversations in Latin, for teaching essential Latin in schools, under the title Colloquiorum scholasticorum libri quatuor.
These colloquia became very famous, and remained in active use in the schoolroom, right through to the early 1800's. The conversations centre for the most part around school life and daily domestic affairs, providing a veritable window into the past.
