From The Editor: The New Year is finally here. Time to make a list of all the things we want to do and see. For me, making a list is easy. I always have goals for not only myself, but also for my family, and Stories for Children Magazine. One goal this year is to bring you, our readers, more wonderful stories, articles, crafts, recipes, book reviews, and wonderfully talented Feature Guests to share the imaginative World of Ink. I know you’ll see the hard work the SFC Team has put into Stories for Children Magazine for 2008. We have selected some imaginative and creative stories and articles to share with you. We have also added two new members to the SFC Team. I’m going to ask that you add to your New Year’s list, “Write a story or article, or draw a picture for Stories for Children Magazine.” And make sure you send in all those wonderful submissions floating around in your imagination to share with us during 2008. Stories for Children Magazine December 2007

Stories for Children Magazine December 2007Stories for Children Magazine December 2007 (e-book)

eBook: $3.99

From The Editor: The holiday season is finally here. Many will be celebrating: Christmas, Hanukkah, Eid Al Adha, and many other religious and cultural holidays this month. At my house, we will be celebrating Christmas. Decorating the front yard, trimming the tree, and singing Christmas Carols. If I’m lucky, I’ll get my kids to go on a hay ride. There is nothing better than an old-fashioned hay ride, drinking hot chocolate, and telling old time Christmas stories. I love December because we all come together. No one cares if you’re Catholic, Buddhist, Mormon, Jewish, Muslim, or one of the many other faiths around the world. We all celebrate the closing of one year and the beginning of another. We celebrate humanity by giving to those in need. We spend time with family and friends. We all seem to be a little nicer to everyone. And, in the end, if you really think about it, we’re not that different at all. Happy Holidays, VS Grenier, Editor-in-Chief

Stories for Children Magazine November 2007

Stories for Children Magazine November 2007Stories for Children Magazine November 2007 (e-book)

eBook: $3.99

From The Editor: The air outside bites with bitter cold teeth. The night’s, long dark tunnels, I run through to find the sun. Warm fires to roast marshmallows and chestnuts in. Family get togethers. The smells of pumpkin pie, roasted turkey, and the smooth rich taste of my mother’s chocolate pie. Ah, the wonders of Autumn. November is a time to think about family traditions. What does your family do during November? My family goes for hay rides, hikes in the red mountains of Utah, and, of course, we have everyone together for Thanksgiving dinner. Each family group brings something to the feast. We have turkey cooked by my step-dad, the best chocolate pie from my mom, green-bean salad from my step-mom, and my dad always has to bring the cranberry sauce. The best part for me, is watching all four of my parents sitting around the table. I’m lucky that Thanksgiving can bring my family together. Even if it’s only once a year. All the best, VS Grenier, Editor-in-Chief

eBook: $3.99

From The Editor: I know many of you are looking forward to Halloween. This is a fun holiday and my favorite, but not because of the candy. No . . . I love to decorate my house like a graveyard and dress up as a witch. Of course my kids like going to the Trunk-Or-Treat in our town. One thing I like to do with my children is sing Halloween songs when trick-or-treating. Yep, there are songs you can sing. With all the fun going on, you still need to remember to be safe! Don’t go trick-or-treating by yourself. Take a flashlight or use light-sticks, so people and cars can see you. And always have mom or dad check your candy before you start to eat it. You may be only going to houses you know, but even then you should still check your candy. All the best, VS Grenier, Editor-in-Chief

Stories for Children Magazine September 2007Stories for Children Magazine September 2007 (e-book)

eBook: $3.99

From The Editor: Fall is finally on its way. School has or is about to start for everyone and the holidays will be here soon. The leaves on my street are changing colors from green, to goldenyellow. The rain will come soon, turning my red desert into a big, fun puddle of red mud, waiting for me to jump, splash, and make yummy pies with. This month is one of my favorites. It might be because I was born in September, many moons ago. The dinosaurs were long gone, but I think there was a few cavemen still around then. Well that’s what my son tells me anyway. I hope you enjoy this issue. We packed it full of games, crafts, stories, and articles. But, don’t forget to visit the website. There are some new page listings with fun links, places to submit your writing (young authors only), and some great book reviews. All the best, VS Grenier, Editor-in-Chief

From The Editor: I can‘t believe how fast summer has gone by. At my house, school starts in only a couple of weeks. My son is now in Middle School, and my daughter will begin preschool a couple of days a week. For those of you who don’t go back to school until September, enjoy what time you have left of summer — swimming, running, and hopefully curling up with a few good books. For me, I look forward to the changing of seasons just around the corner. . .cooler weather to welcome me outside, and nice, rainy days; not to mention all the holidays spent with family and friends. There has always been an enchantment about reading a good children’s story. Children take pleasure in having a story read to them anytime or anywhere – whether it be around a campfire, under a starry night, in their beds wrapped up tight in snuggly blankets, beneath a shady tree on a hot summer’s day, or in front of a roaring fireplace on a cold winter’s day. Children love to listen to a story being read and this can go as far as adolescence. Come take an adventure in the World of Ink with the "Best of" Stories for Children Magazine Volume 1, a collection of over 20 poems, stories, and articles published by leading children's authors.

eBook: $3.99

From The Editor: July is a month for reflection. What reflection means is to think or look back. For me, I think about what I’ve done as a writer, a mom, and, as an editor for Stories for Children Magazine. Then, I think of how I can be better. With this thought, the changes came about on Stories for Children Magazine’s website. Our hope is that it makes it easier for you to enjoy all the wonderful stories and articles. Now, you have only to click on the title, and POP—you’re at the story or article of your choice. Less pages to click through, means more time reading! This is also the time to think about our country, our freedom, and to remember those who have fought, and are still fighting, to keep us free. WE LOVE YOU, AMERICA! From The Editor: It’s time to put those swimming suits on because Summer is finally here! No more school, teachers, or homework for three entire months. This is the time of year all kids live for. We also need to remember our fathers. Even though they are busy with work, getting stuff done around the house, or watching a football game, they need to know how much we love them. As a pilot’s daughter, time spent with my dad was short. But I do have many memories created with my dad in the air. I even wrote a story about his love of flying called, “Flying Upside Down.” The story is based on many true stories from his childhood and the title is from one of my memories when flying with my father. Now it’s your turn to find the adventures, mysteries, and fantastic creatures waiting for you here in the World of Ink. Don’t forget to bring Dad along!

I'm so glad that you came to the party. This is the birthday of Stories for Children Magazine. Yes, magazines have birthdays, too. But instead of cake, we have stories to share with you. And instead of ice cream, we have fun articles that teach about the world around you. You'll also find no presents to open. But don't look so sad. We still have games, crafts, and new friends to make. And I'm sure you'll find an adventure or two. I would like to thank all those who helped today become a reality. Stories for Children Magazine wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the hard working authors, illustrators, and my supportive family. All the best, VS Greiner, Editor-in-Chief
