Mae Siu-Wai Stroshane
Hi and welcome to the Potpourri!
There's a little bit of everything (well, just about) You'll see a bit of my fiction, nonfiction and orginal piano music for starters.
Who am I? Well, I'm a classically trained pianist turned music rebel. I've traveled from Beethoven to boogie, plus a little in between. "Clear Mountain Spring," is a collection of easygoing, toe-tapping melodies and calming meditations.
If you're a baseball fan, join me for an up-close and personal account of the Red Sox Miracle of 2004, as well as reviews of other interesting baseball books. Learn about Louis Sockalexis, the great 19th century outfielder andthe only real "Cleveland Indian." He also appears in my collection of short stories and poetry, "The Heart of a Brave." Check in often to see my latest "brain droppings," in the words of George Carlin. Thanks for stopping by, and feel free to e-mail me anytime.

Louis Sockalexis, Baseball Pioneer
Fifty years before Jackie Robinson became the first African-American in major league baseball, a speedy outfielder named Louis Sockalexis became the first Native American to play in the majors.
In 1897, "Sock" was the best college player in the country. He was a mighty slugger and speedy runner and he had the strongest arm in baseball. Fans jeered him at first for being an Indian, but when they saw his exciting plays, their jeers turned to cheers.
This is his story.
