Charles M. Day III was born in Memphis Tennessee on October 12, 1950. His formative years were spent in Mississippi. Charles' Love for writing began with his stepmother Elisabeth Ann an English and literature teacher. He developed an appreciation for poetry because It gave him an outlet to express what he felt deep inside. Charles spent 4 years in the US Navy during the Vet Nam War. He was an Original crew member of the USS Coronado an LPD, (Landing platform Dock), ship. The title of His first book, "Thoughts of The Transplanted Mississippian” reflects his attitude that no matter where he is his heart is always in Mississippi. Charles now lives with his wife and two of his three children in a small town is western Kansas. Where farm land and tumble weeds replace the beloved woods of his youth. The Transplanted Mississippian” is a poetic slice of the author’s life during the years of the G. W. Bush Administration. Charles made it a habit to e-mail the President and other Government officials with encouragements and sometimes strong opinions on national events. The poetry that ended each e-mail reflects his deep belief in GOD. The question of why was a certain poem or Prose written is offten asked. From this question, legends and hypothetical reasons are made by people as to why few if any are correct. By leaving the e-mails with the poems and Prose or a small blurb as a lead in, The reason for the Poems and Prose are made crystal clear. Charles wrote dedications though poetry to his children, his wife, His father the Armed Services, the President, First Lady and others. Several poems have received the “Editors Choice Award” Offered Here are three forms of His Book.----- The First book shown is the DELUXE COFFEE TABLE EDITION which is a 8.5 x8.5 size.
