Print: $17.72 Download: $5.00 For several years, Joe and Melissa Johnson have been watching films and writing about what they see. In 2005, they formed a podcast (Film-Philes) to talk about new and classic movies. This short-lived show later gave way to Watching the Directors, a bi-weekly program that examined the work of directors. They then added another program, Watching Theology, that put a chosen film into analysis looking for the theological, philosophical, and thematic core.
Eventually, they created an online journal (Watching Journal), that quickly disappeared due to the demands of daily life and academic work apart from these programs.
This anthology is an attempt to resurrect some of the work from those years, including a number of articles, papers, lists, and other writings. Along with those texts, ninety-three reviews of current and classic movies--magical and mediocre--are included. This work is a great companion to watching and talking about movies and a significant addition to any film library.
