Yahara Design Press specializes in publishing rock fiction, or "rock lit" as it is sometimes called. Our books take place in the wild, often sordid, underground of rock'n'roll. Strong characters, both female and male, search for meaning and self-identity in a world revolving around music, performance, and constant road travel.

The Volume Tribes
Two bands. One bus. Three thousand miles.
A once-famous hard rock band, which disintegrated years ago in a haze of drugs and alcohol, reunites when a young promoter offers the band a road tour and the possibility of a new record deal. The group is paired with a rival band for the long string of gigs, and they must share the tight confines of a single tour bus as they trek across the country. Will the band survive and find success again, or will their old demons destroy them as they did once before? Great rock fiction from one of the best in the genre.
"...either his semifactual, minor-league rock narratives possess some strange fascination or I’m as twisted as he is!" - Greg Burk, L.A. Weekly

Dead, Jail, or Rock'n'Roll
A brother and sister from a broken, alcoholic family try to make their mark on the world with their sharpest skills – playing loud, raucous rock songs. In pursuit of a record deal, they form a group handpicked from the pale underbelly of Hollywood’s music scene. The band’s reputation grows rapidly, and strong bonds develop between the members. Yet, despite their emergent success, the siblings must deal not only with their own familial dysfunctions, but also those of the band. Can they hold it together long enough for the music establishment to discover them? It is a story of interwoven family units with struggles and goals that are entangled like disheveled hair on a guitarist’s sweaty brow.
